Back to Basics: Affordable Versatile Black edition
I am REALLY into black clothing lately. I’m not sure if it’s my current coloring (or lack there of) but I have found myself wearing all black majority of this winter.
But, black is classic and these separates are some of the most versatile items I own.
At the end of the day, you can style a black turtleneck 10 different ways, while that $250 off the shoulder, cut out top sits in your closet unworn. And while some may think its boring, adding a pop of color, handbag or heel, can spruce up any ensemble.
Black look breakdown:
- Turtlenecks. Cute under a jacket, sweater, or layered under a shift dress. This sleeveless top allows you to layer, while not overheating when you get to your office, which is of course 1000 degrees. (I was clearly not overheating, as it was so cold, I couldn’t take my jacket off to show you the “slevelessness” of the top) 1 // 2 // 3 // 4
- Midi skirts. Paired with a t-shirt, chunky sweater, or button down, this is a staple in my closet. The mid-length skirt and knee high boot allows me to get away with not wearing tights, which to be honest, aren’t always the most comfortable for a long day at work.1 // 2 // 3
- The story behind these boots is short and kind of awesome. I saw a blogger wearing these Manolo Blahnik and WANTED them really terribly. They are a perfect heel height for work and are uber chic. So when I found a similar pair for $84 at Nordstroms by Nine West, they quickly went into my cart and onto my feet where they've stayed for most of this winter.
