Did you know the first jean jacket was made in 1880 by Levi's founder Levi Strauss? To think jean jackets have been around for more than 130 years is crazy! Sure, they've changed over years, season to season, but jean jackets are still an All-American clothing staple. Can you think of another trend has lasted that long? Today, I'm sharing a couple of my favorites - everything from distressed to embellished to over-sized. Check out the 10 jean jacket trends below!

First up is distressed. This Topshop distressed jacket is the perfect amount of tattered and frayed. I love the medium wash and the slightly oversized look. At less than $100, this one is a great addition to your jean jacket collection.

Oversized jean jackets have become more popular as gender-neutral clothing has become more common, offering a more boxy, universally flattering look. You know me, I'm all about comfort! Boyfriend or oversized jackets look great on everyone! Pair with a cute mini dress and sneakers and it’s the perfect weekend look.

I find the best classic jean jackets are made by GAP or Levi. Innovators in denim jackets, both offer a variety of washes, cuts, and the simplest styles that outlast any trend and stay classic for years to come. Classic jean jackets typically have two color options really, light wash or dark wash. I like to dedicate a color to each season - light works best for summertime and dark wash works best for spring and fall. Don't get me started on winter, I live in Chicago. No jean jackets here!

The fur collar jean jacket is my newest addition to my jean jacket collection. I received this one from my friends at Olive and Pepper and I haven’t taken it off. I am obsessed with the wash of the jacket, the slightly distressed look and of course, the blue fur removable collar. Under $60 it’s a steal!

One of my other current favorites right now is the reconstructed jean jacket from Madewell. It is super chic and the perfect twist on the classic denim look.

White jean jackets are EVERYWHERE this season. They look crisp with dresses, jeans, and rompers. I love pairing a white jacket with a t-shirt dress and crisp white sneakers.

Embellished jackets are also a super cute way to add texture and personality to an outfit. Most of the time I think “the simpler, the better”. But that's not always the case! These jackets are so fun and different, that when added to a simple white mini dress it makes it look so much more stylish!

Don't forget to experiment with color! Jean jackets come in a lot more colors than just denim. Right now, I am obsessed with pink jean jackets. I think this pink one from Target is so cute and looks adorable with her outfit. Under $35 and perfect for the springtime!

The most surprising denim jacket trend of the season, which I love, is the denim duster. Honestly, it takes a certain person to pull off this trend, but you have to admit this look is chic AF. The trick with dusters, in general, is to be super tall or, if you're short, fake it and make sure to wear a heel that makes your legs look longer. At the end of the day, wear with confidence and you'll look amazing!
