Trader Joe's has been my go-to grocery store since moving to Chicago 5.5 years ago. It wasn't until recently, when talking with my cousin, that I realized not everyone knows how to maneuver their way through TJ's. So thanks to my cousin, Abby, I thought I'd share my favorite Trader Joe's items!
Since they don't carry generic brands, I can see how some people stick with what they know like the big box stores. But, if you go with an open mind, and some spare time to explore, you can find everything you need at Trader Joe's. Plus, they they have a ton of amazing products you can't find anywhere else!
As you can see from my personal picks, they aren't the most healthy items. I do buy my fresh fruits and veggies from there too, along with my meats. But for the sake of this post, I wanted to share my yummy and fun items I go back to buy (almost) weekly.
My TJ Favorites:
Kale Pesto - I use this pesto on just about everything. For a quick dinner, I slather it on chicken breasts or throw in with pasta or zoodles.
Banana Chips - These banana chips are a great potato chip alternative. I get my salty fix eating them alone or dip them in guacamole.
Chicken Apple Sausage - Great for a quick breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I roast veggies and this sausage for dinner all the time and it's delicious! Add and egg and it's breakfast.
Dried Mangos - I could eat dried fruit everyday. These mangos are super addicting and a quick sweet treat.
Cauliflower Stir Fry - Mix with a scrambled egg and add that chicken sausage and this is a super easy and healthy meal.
Gone Bananas - OMG. These are amazing and they have a strawberry version that's equally as yummy. These are one of my favorite guilt free(ish) desserts.
Sweet Potato Gnocchi - Joe and I eat this as a side dish maybe once a week. It is so simple and savory. This goes great with grilled chicken and veggies. Also, PSA - we don't add any water to the pan when we cook it. We find that the gnocchi gets crispier if you leave out the water.
Mini Pizzas - Who doesn't love frozen pizza? These are so good. I feel a little less guilty eating these but they truly are another easy and delicious TJ's find.
Corn Salsa - This sweet, but zesty salsa is literally addictive. I throw it on salads, tacos, or just eat it with chips.
Tomato Soup - I eat this soup for lunch quite often. Sometimes I'll cook some orzo and throw it in for a more filling meal...or add a grilled cheese!
Southwest Chopped Salad Kit - Another quick and easy Trader Joe's find. I like to add some grilled chicken or shrimp to my salad and there's definitely enough for two people in the bag.
Dark Chocolate with Almonds - I buy this chocolate every time I'm at TJ's. Because dark chocolate is good for you, right?
Chickpea Cauliflower Bowl
Green Goddess Dressing
Cauliflower Pizza Crust
Lemon and Rosemary Chicken
Peanut Butter Granola
Carrot Cake Spread
Coconut Milk Creamer
